The Annual Cabbagetown Festival kicked off our September. We look forward to it every year, as it is more than just a street festival, it is a celebration of everything my little neighbourhood has to offer.
Here’s a recap of the fun we had this weekend.
We started our morning getting coffees with Melissa at local brew Jet Fuel.
We were soon joined by Vanessa and we stopped by Global TV’s photobooth for some fun pictures.
Next we discovered a non-dairy gelato store that is new to the neighbourhood. Grinning Face Gelato offers coconut milk based ice cream.
The lack of dairy is definitely not noticed with their very interesting flavour combinations. Our favourites was Lemon Lemon which tastes like a Lemon Meringue. That being said we opted to grab the Raspberry Mint as refresher for this hot weekend.
We enjoyed our gelato listening to the street music of the festival, everything from Amy Winehouse, big band and, our favourite, a children’s steel band:
And we liked it so much we grabbed a pint!
We managed to grab some spots on their extended patio to listen to the smooth funk stylings of Mr. Snooki Tynes
To go with our music and beer Melissa grabbed a quinoa salad…
…and V and I split their irish nachos.
Lastly we visited Fair Trade Jewellery Co. and their typewriters.
I typed a letter Vanessa but also felt moved to type this love letter. As the last festival I’ll be attending as a Cabbagetowner it was a bittersweet festival. But not to worry I’m sure I’ll be back again soon.
Cabbagetown, Stay Charming.
