We started our meal with some delish drinks like their Grapefruit Moon Mimosas.
We’ve been for dinner to neighbourhood darling, The Stockyards, more times that we’d like to admit (considering we only moved down the street a few months ago.) While the burgers were mouthwateringly good, we knew we had to get in here for SUNDAY BRUNCH and their famed Chicken and Waffles. We had heard many a good thing about it and so we dressed in our finest plaid and headed out with @herroyalmelness.
The place was packed even at 10:30 AM on a Sunday! Pro-brunching tip: Make sure to get here early! It’s small place so seating is at a minimum but most importantly – Worth the wait!
I’ve been adopted by Jackie’s parents. I am their foodie adoptive daughter and I am honoured to be the person that they call when they want to try a new smoked meat place – especially of the pulled pork variety!
We had a yummy family brunch at Smoque N Bones just a stone’s throw away from Trinity Bellwoods Park on Queen West.
It was busy but the 40 minute wait did not turn us away! (Next time we’ll make sure to make reservations!)
It’s always a wonderful day when our friends from San Francisco come home. And it’s an even better day if we get the chance to brunch with these two lovely people.
If a cafe could be “cute as a button” this would be it. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere and drop dead gorgeous scones (and I mean gorgeous on the outside and on the inside because these are delicious).
On this visit I tried the “Eggy”. The best way I could describe it is an “sconified” egg. Cutting into it you get that slow ooze that you want in a poached egg with the benefit of delicious butter scone soak it all in. Are you hungry yet?
There’s a wine and cheese party in my future that will be gifted half a dozen beautiful scones in various flavours tonight. Get your butter and jam ready, friends.
I discovered the Cocoalatte cafe back in 2013 lured in by there very enticing brown bear outside their cafe.
Little did I know that I would be moving in near little St. Clair West cafe a year later. Good news for my taste buds but bad news for the waist line as their specialty latte is a Nutella Latte!
They’re also amazing at doing foam design as you can see above.
Our stay in St. Catharines was made special by staying at a bed and breakfast. It’s a great way to feel at home when traveling and to get some local colour. Here are just a few snapshots of our stay and yummy breakfast with Teresa and Peter at Ridley Gate Manor B&B. It was really the perfect place to stay, a close drive into the centre of town and a short scenic walk too.
We had such a great time during our run in wine country in July that we couldn’t wait to race again. This time for the Niagara Running Series’ Race for the Grapes in St. Catharines, Ontario.
The night before we took a stroll through downtown St. Catharines and carb loaded for our race with treats from Rise Above Bakery.
Just a really lovely bakery that offers ALL vegan options! So you can munch happily away on your brownies and muffins – with no guilt!
And yes while their brownies, muffins, and other baked goods looked really really good, we were here for one thing, and one thing only: DONUTS!
