I can hardly believe it’s been 5 months since my trip to the Philippines! My cousin Tita Ging from the Forty Weeks and then some blog, made sure I got a small taste of what brunch is like in Manila. She and her daughter Allie are both brunch enthusiasts like me so I’m glad the three of us got a chance to stop in at the cutest brunch spot I’ve ever been to: Early Bird Breakfast Club
Walking in I knew right away I would love this place. The decor is fun and their philosophy is something I can definitely get behind: “making the world a happier place one breakfast at a time”
I couldn’t decide between savoury and sweet so I ordered both. First up the Viva Longganisa – Sweet Filipino Breakfast Sausages served with sauteed veggies, a fried egg and their breakfast rice.
To finish off my meal I had the Yin & Yang Champorado. Champorado is a filipino chocolate porridge and here at Early Bird they played with the design and flavours by combining white and dark Belgian chocolate to create the yin yang shape in the jar. For the adventurous soul it comes with a side of crispy dilis (anchovies).
Tita Ging decided to go sweet and ordered the Peanut Butter and Caramel French Toast. I’ve always loved peanut butter a little bit melted. When you add dulce de leche to the mix, how can you not have a winning combination?
And saving the best for last, Allie’s favourite breakfast French Toast Fondue:
Kid-friendly and honestly the cutest plating I’ve ever seen, you get perfect french toast sticks to dip in cinnamon sugar, melted chocolate or maple syrup. Wow. This was a wonderful brunching experience. Thank you to Allie and Tita Ging for bringing me to this wonderful gem! Only 5 more days ’til the weekend 😉
