Toronto’s Dupont street is now home to many foodie hotspots, but before this street became the new up and coming food hub of the city, there was Fanny Chadwick’s paving the way.
We’ve come in for for dinner a few times, even a Random Dinner Night a few moons ago. We’ve had an amazing dining experience every time so we were delighted to be invited for a cozy brunch for six by our friend Jackie! We had everything from the sweet to the savoury.

Fanny Chadwick’s has been around for a few years now, but it’s still full and bustling on any given weekend so make sure you head over early and grab a seat, especially if you have a big party.
Service is quick here and our tables were soon laden with our morning choices. Several of us had the Fanny Rancheros. Unlike any rancheros I’ve ever seen, they do away with the tortilla and replace it with sourdough
Here the two farm fresh eggs are done over easy on sourdough – perfect for sopping up the excess yolk! It’s topped with blanco baked beans, tomato salsa and avocado sauce to keep the mexican flavours alive. With a generous side of potato hash and your choice of bacon, peameal or brisket (pictured), it’s a dinner that could easily feed two hungry sailors!
Speaking of, it’s hard for me to grab a menu and pass up a morning potato hash and Fanny’s Smoked Brisket Hash wasn’t hard to resist
I did my eggs over easy, and I loved the addition of veggies (they’re there just buried under the hash. The only thing missing? Some kind of sauce to mix up – there’s something to be said for a good saucy breakfast! I kicked up the flavours with some special hot sauce, you only need a little bring in the heat!
If your tastes lean to the sweet, don’t miss out on their Finnish Pancakes
I love dessert-y passion fruit and that’s what they use to top their honey ricotta filled crepe. Don’t worry if the carnivore in you is still wanting to get fed, you have your choice of peameal, bacon and brisket.
Lastly, the unanimously adored Colonial Sticky Bun.
It’s a beast that one person should never eat alone, so make sure you grab at least one each! The perfect chewy texture, sweet and sticky you’ll definitely want to fork and knife it to keep some façade of classiness. But if you’re not OMNOMNOMing on the inside you have to be some kind of robot!
Side Note: I took home two of these to feed my mom and hungry line dancers at Nathan Phillips Square – they all wanted to know where this came from, if they deliver to Mississauga, and when would I be stopping by with these delicious buns again! High praise for sure!
We left Fanny Chadwick’s well fed and we can’t wait to be back here again soon!
