We LOVE travelling to San Francisco because of the great weather, amazing food and bestest most awesome people – Isabelle and Noah! They always make sure we have a great time when we visit and this trip was no different. After landing and checking in at our hotel she took us to our most memorable brunching experience to date at the Red Door Cafe.
There are three things you should know about the Red Door Cafe:
1. As stated on the windows, the restaurant is gay, gay, gay, friendly, friendly friendly. So if you’re not comfortable with naked dolls and dildo decor then sadly this place is not for you.
2. The restaurant only seats a few people so it’s not a great place to bring a party larger than 2 people unless you’re ok with sitting apart or finishing your meals at different times. Don’t worry, the restaurant’s awesome owner is very attentive and will give you a fun placeholder while you wait outside.
3. Not only are you in for a fun and entertaining brunch, care of the restaurant owner Ahmed, you’re also in for a yummy and unique meal.
We decided to start off with a little caffeine, Isabelle and Noah ordered yummy chai lattes and Chris and I went with giant cups of cafe mocha. They were as good as they looked.
The menu doesn’t have boring old eggs benedict or scrambled eggs. Instead you can order up something risqué sounding like the “Two Big Titties” or “Dump Your Wife and Lick My Tight Pink Snatch” (pictured below):
And what is it exactly? It’s a mouthful of alaskan smoked salmon, wild rocket, asparagus and two sunny side up eggs drizzled with Mango Pumpkin Tumeric savoury sauce. And while the boys went for the more tame sounding “Havana”, there was nothing tame about 2 cuban tacos with scrambled eggs, spicy soy chorizo and homemade cuban salsa.
Half way through your meal be prepared for glitter and stickers! Ahmed personally applies these himself and he does a very thorough job (you’ll be finding glitter on you for days after).
Visit the Red Door Cafe the next time you’re in San Francisco! You’ll be in for a delicious meal and great memories to bring home with you!
