I’ve been a big fan of Paramount Fine Foods for a while, particularly of their Shawarma plates and their fresh pita bread that they serve inflated at the start of the meal. When I learned that their breakfast fare was more than just shawarma for breakfast, I was intrigued – and I dragged some friends with me to investigate.
Let’s start with the beautiful Paramount Special juice with cream and honey and pistachios and all the fruits you could ever want. All that’s missing is the pool and the plus 30 degree weather!
Next up we decided to try a myriad of bowls like the Fatteh/Labban or the Chicken Foul. They are a mixture of chickpeas, hummus and/or yogurt and topped with various meats and nuts. These are perfect for sharing with the table – just tear a piece of pita, load it up (don’t forget to add some of the side vegetables) and enjoy.
Another favourite Manakeesh – essentially pita pizza with various toppings. You can go with the ever popular cheese and zaatar (a paste of thyme and sesame) or try the version topped with spicy chicken – both are great choices!
Lastly, the desserts! We love baklava but when we come to Paramount it’s all about the kinafe – a cheesy pastry drenched in sweet syrup.
Overall, a great place to spend your morning but make sure to take along a few friends! All the dishes are very shareable, prices are very good and service is very attentive! See you again very soon, Paramount!
