On a rainy morning in January, we splashed our way over to Perry St Restaurant in New York City for brunch with wonderful friends and our travel monkey, Darcy!
We had no idea what to expect but wasn’t surprised when we arrived – our designer friend Rachel picked the restaurant. Ever look at a design catalogue and wonder how it would feel to eat breakfast in that perfectly put-together space? We certainly experienced it:
The space was minimalist with muted colours but some how still so warm and relaxing! But let’s be honest, the most important question in our minds … did the food taste good too?
We started with the mixed bread basket and were rewarded with another work of art. Delicious pain au chocolat, doughnuts, danishes, muffins and croissants I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a prettier bread basket!
And our mains were just as gorgeous:
The most interesting of our mains was Rachel’s choice. Titled “Sunny Side Up Eggs” it gives you exactly that and a whole lot more. Is it time for a ‘What is art?’ debate because I am seriously tempted to hang this photo up on my wall.
Another marvel (and my personal kryptonite), Pavlova. Perry Street does theirs with blood orange sorbet and tarragon.
Wow. Way to impress NYC! Thanks Rachel for choosing Perry St Restaurant as our destination. This was a wonderful and unique brunch and I can’t wait to go back NYC to do it again!
