Saving Grace has been on my MUST GO list for a long, long time. Considering that Torontonians are particular about their food, having a place outlast their ‘newness’ and still live up to their hype is pretty spectacular. Let’s start with a few tips for an optimal Saving Grace experience.
First Tip: Go Early
There’s almost always a line on Saturdays (as they’re closed on Sundays). At least 15-20 people outside waiting even before they open up at 10 AM.
Tip the Second: Sit Upstairs
If you’re group isn’t too big it’s a great place to sit side by side and people watch. Also food-watch! You’ll get an idea of what you might order by seeing what others have ordered.
Tip #3: Read the Chalkboard
Be one with the chalkboard. The chalkboard is your friend. The chalkboard will make sure you don’t miss out on CARROT CAKE WAFFLES with Cream Cheese Icing.
Tip No. 4: Try a Fancy Coffee
Like a Vietnamese Ice Coffee or a giant Chai Latte. If nothing else you’re in for the prettiest coffees that ever lived. And they taste great too!
Five Golden Rings! (Tip 5): Did I mention the chalkboard?
Reading the regular menu might leave scratching your head about why this place is always so jammed pack. Not that I don’t believe their regular breakfast items aren’t excellent, but you just can’t get the kind of things they come up with on their chalkboard.
Their food is hard to pigeon hole into a specific cuisine and their execution is delicious. I am sure they get a lot of repeat customers just to check out what they might be throwing together this week.
So what do you think? Would you line up for a meal like this at Saving Grace? I know I did and will again. They’ve got no online presence (no website, no social media) to speak of and yet many, many delicious reviews about them. And I can see why!
Thanks to @squiggydutt for joining me on this adventure! Hope things are going well in Fogo! And next time you’re in town – Let’s wander over to Saving Grace again 🙂
