2012 may have been celebrated with an all-night dance party and screaming to Songza’s ‘Crowd Pleasing Dance Pop’ playlist but 2013 started with a hacking cough and oops, viral laryngitis. (WORTHIT)
It’s fitting then that the first brunch of the year had us seated snuggly at a table for 9 at Dr. Generosity.
“The Doctor will see you now…”
An old favourite with my friends, Dr. G’s was the site of many hangover brunches and good times in years past. We loved coming here for the stuffed french toast and the Aussie exchange student waitstaff. No accents on this particular morning though our waitress was very nice and attentive. The tables are covered with brown paper and a glass full of crayons for those that have a yen to draw while waiting for their meals.
I ordered their special Eggs Benedict – Shaved Prime Rib Eggs Benny with Carmelized Onions and some bottomless coffee:
It’s the first time I’ve ordered something other than their waffles or stuffed french toast. The meal was good but I wish the home fries were warmer and the prime rib a little more pink through the middle. Monika enjoyed her Eggs Dostoyefsky, Janine her Giant Belgian Waffle and Shingo his Eggs Florentine (sadly, I was too busy enjoying my meal to get a good shot of theirs). Here’s Linds enjoying her Bloor West Special – Scrambled Eggs, Sausage and Cream Cheese with a healthy salad on the side. She always picks the best meals!
This brunch marked Benny Brunchosaurus’ first official outing. He had no problem getting up in everyone’s brunch business:
Diagnosis? A great place for brunch but remember: a meal is always better with friends. I’m so glad that so many of you were able to come out! This great beginning makes me excited for what 2013 has in store! Happy Brunching!
